The Chicago Bears are on a free fall, which they hope to end in Week 14 against the visiting Houston Texans. Will the Bears score a win after a long while? Or will the Texans rebound from their own recent loss with a victory on the road? Check out our preview of this game below.
You gotta feel for the Texans, who lost to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday at home, 26-20. On the verge of scoring a touchdown to likely win the game for them near the end of regulation, the Texans blew their chance by fumbling the ball and losing possession to the Colts. However, that the Texans were able to be competitive in that game despite a wide receiving corps that looks completely different from the one they had a couple of weeks ago provided a silver lining for the team. Deshaun watson had 341 passing yards and zero touchdowns with an interception on 26-of-38 completions, but he showed instant chemistry with Chad Hansen, who was just recently called up from the practice squad following the release of Kenny Stills, Will Fuller V’s suspension, and Randall Cobb’s placement on the injured reserve. Hansen had 101 receiving yards on five catches and seven targets, while Keke Coutee led the team with 141 receiving yards on eight receptions and nine targets. After seeing Matthew Stafford hurl for 400 passing yards in Week 13 against the Bears, Watson should be liking his chances to torch the Bears’ defense this coming Sunday.

The Bears have a steady diet of losses. They have now lost six games in a row after getting victimized by the Detroit Lions in Week 13, 34-30. It was a gut-wrenching loss for the Bears, especially since they squandered a 10-point lead in the final quarter. But if there’s one to like for the Bears in that game, it’s that Mitchell Trubisky played relatively well. Trubisky didn’t throw an interception (although he lost a fumble) and went 26 of 34 for 267 passing yards and a touchdown after getting destroyed by the Green Bay Packers’ defense in Week 12. The Texans’ defense is among the worst in the NFL, and it’s the kind that someone like Trusbisky can deal with. The Texans are 30th overall with 406.3 passing yards allowed per game and is tied for last with just three defensive interceptions. It may be hard to believe to some, but Trubisky could go another interception-free day in Week 14. Another one who could shine for the Bears is running back David Montgomery, who rushed for 72 yards and a couple of touchdowns on 17 carries against the Lions, as Houston’s defense also functions like a wet paper bag when it tries to contain opposing ground attacks.
