Betting on the New York Jets (+17.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-13
First of all, let us offer our thoughts and prayers to the Jets nation. But in every loss this team suffers, they move a little closer to winning the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. The Jets lost their 13th game of the season after falling prey to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday to the tune of a 40-3 loss. Sam Darnold passed for 132 yards with zero touchdowns on 14-of-26 completions. If anything, at least he didn’t throw a pick. The Jets will have wide receiver Denzel Mims back after missing the Seattle game due to personal reasons. Mims is the third-best receiver for the Jets this season, and his presence alongside Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman at least gives New York some level of threat in the eyes of the Rams. The Jets are averaging 14.1 points and 269.8 total yards per game.
The Jets are 4-2 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (-17.5)
Regular Season Record: 9-4
The Rams got their ninth win of the season and fourth in five games after defeating the New England Patriots, 24-3, at home in Week 14. The Rams’ defense showed no mercy on New England. The Rams’ stop unit recorded six sacks and an interception. The Rams also allowed just 3.7 yards per carry to the Patriots. Considering how lifeless the Jets are on offense, it’s terrifying to think just what kind of things Aaron Donald and company are going to unleash on New York. The Jets’ pass protection is among the worst in the league, and Sam Darnold just got sacked three times last week. And now, they are going to deal with a Rams team that has 42 sacks on the season. But even Jared Goff and the Rams’ offense seem enough to take down the Jets. The Rams are fifth in the NFL with 389.4 total yards per game. They should have no problem moving the chains on Sunday.
The Rams are 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rams win, 30-6.
