Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (+8)

Regular Season Record: 2-10-1

The Bengals gave themselves something to finally feel good about, as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers at home last Monday, 27-17.  The Bengals easily covered the spread as 14.5-point home underdogs. They are now 5-5 against the spread in their last 10 games overall. The Bengals’ defense came out alive and played their best of the season against the Steelers. Cincinnati held Ben Roethlisberger down to only 170 passing yards and the Steelers’ backfield to only 3.7 rushing yards per carry. That game showed that there’s hope in the Bengals’ defense, especially when it really wants to get things together. The Bengals’ offense, meanwhile, can shine brighter in Week 16 against Houston’s faulty defense that is allowing 27.6 points per game and 402.6 total yards per contest – second-worst in the NFL.

The under is 2-0 in the Bengals’ last two games away from home.

Bet on the Bengals

Betting on the Houston Texans (-8)

Regular Season Record: 4-10

The Texans are not going to the playoffs but their future is still bright because of Deshaun Watson. Houston’s franchise quarterback passed for 373 yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 33-of-41 completions in last Sunday’s 27-20 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts. With two weeks left in the regular season, Watson has managed to rack up 4,134 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns against only six interceptions. Despite the effort that Cincinnati showed in the Steelers game, the Bengals still look vulnerable on defense. One great game won’t change the image of that stop unit. The Bengals are 20th in the league against the pass and 19th with 25.3 points allowed per game. If this game becomes a shootout, the Texans should have an advantage, as they have the better quarterback and set of running backs, particularly the duo of David Johnson and Duke Johnson.,

The Texans are 4-2 against the spread in their last six games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

The Texans win, 31-20.
