Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma State Cowboys Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – February 6 2021

The No. 6 Texas Longhorns are not going to catch the Baylor Bears atop the Big 12 standings, but they need wins in order to secure the second spot in the conference, which they currently share with the West Virginia Mountaineers, as of this writing. The Oklahoma State Cowboys, meanwhile, can certainly boost their March Madness resume by adding to their three Quadrant 1 wins. Check out our preview of this game below.

Betting on the Texas Longhorns (odds)

Record: 11-4 Overall / 5-3 Conference

Texas was the latest team to get whipped by the Baylor Bears. The Longhorns lost to Baylor last Tuesday, 83-69 for Texas’ second loss in a row. Prior to the Baylor game, the Longhorns got humbled by the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman in a gut-wrenching 80-79 loss on Jan. 26. Texas’ outside shooting was barely existent in the loss to Baylor, though that’s not much of a surprise considering that the Bears are one of the best defensive teams in the nation. Texas went only 6 of 25 from deep in that game to snap their two-game streak of 12 or more 3-pointers. Perhaps the Longhorns can recapture their shooting touch from behind the arc against Oklahoma State which Texas has already defeated this season. Texas went 9 of 27 from behind the arc in a 77-74 win over Cade Cunningham and the Cowboys back in December in the midst of what turned out to be a six-game undefeated streak by Texas.

Texas, which is averaging 75.9 points per game, is 5-0 against the spread in its last five road games.

Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (odds)

Record: 11-4 Overall / 4-4 Conference

Oklahoma State will rodeo first this Wednesday against the TCU Horned Frogs on the road before shifting their full focus on the rematch against the Longhorns. The Horned Frogs will enter the TCU game on the heels of a pair of wins against the Iowa State Cyclones (81-60) in Ames and the Arkansas Razorbacks (81-77) in Stillwater. It’s no secret who the Cowboys’ top weapon is this season, who is no other than Cade Cunnigham. Expected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft, Cunningham is leading the Cowboys this season with 18.2 points per game to go with 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 33.6 minutes per game. In the loss to the Longhorns, Cunningham had 25 points, three rebounds, and three assists. He got his way inside the arc, as he shot 8 of 13 on two-pointers. Oklahoma State is averaging 76.9 points per game and is giving up 71.2 per contest.

Oklahoma State is 2-1 against the spread in its last three games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Texas wins, 75-73.
