Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (+2.5)

Record: 18-6 Overall / 11-4 Conference

Florida State arrives in the Sweet Sixteen round after shaking the rusts off in a 64-54 first-round win over the UNC Greensboro Spartans (64-54) before taking down the Colorado Buffaloes (71-53) in the second round, where it played with a higher quality of play it’s known for all season long. Florida State’s offense is on a groove, heading into the Michigan game, as the Seminoles have shot 53.5 percent from the field in their last three games. Despite going 0 of 9 from deep in the first round, the Seminoles have knocked down 35.2 percent of their 3-point shots in their last four games. Michigan can’t sleep on this Seminoles team that can get the job done on both ends of the floor. Florida State has 7-1 sophomore Balsa Koprivica to throw at Wolverines star Hunter Dickinson and two big guards in 6-5 MJ Walker and 6-4 Rayquan Evans starting for the team. Florida State is ready for the Wolverines, to say the least.

The over is 4-1 in Florida State’s last five games as the underdog.

Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (-2.5)

Record: 22-4 Overall / 14-3 Conference

In the 86-78 win in the second round over the LSU Tigers, the Wolverines once again showed that they can win games where they’ve been pushed outside of their comfort zone. The Tigers made Michigan work for its win, and the Wolverines did that by turning to their advantage — rebounding. Against Florida State, the Wolverines can capitalize on the Seminoles’ seemingly incapability to hold on to the leather. The Seminoles have turned the ball over an average of 17.0 times in their last four games; they’ve already had 26 turnovers in this tournament alone. Michigan is not a big high-pressure defensive team, but if Florida continues to cough up possessions, the Wolverines’ efficient offense will likely convert lots of points off of those FSU errors. The Wolverines are eighth in the nation with 118.6 points per 100 possessions and 18th in effective field goal percentage.

Michigan is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Michigan wins, 77-75.
