Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5)

Regular Season Record: 3-2

The Bengals suffered their first loss in three weeks last Sunday, as they failed to stop Aaron Rodgers and company in a 25-22 overtime home loss to the Green Bay Packers. Still, the Bengals went toe to toe with an elite Super Bowl contender, showing just how far they’ve gone from being a freebie to opponents in past years to a team that can push an elite squad to the edge. Up ahead for the Bengals is a winless Lions team that can be dangerous when taken for granted, but the Lions surely won’t have any of that, considering that they’re coming off a bitter-tasting loss. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase will look to continue playing sweet music together against Detroit’s defense that is last in the NFL with 9.3 yards allowed per pass attempt. That sounds like a treat for a deep threat like Chase, but it should be noted that Burrow’s status should be closely monitored after suffering an injury in Week 5.

The Bengals are 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games after a loss.

Bet on the Bengals

Betting on the Detroit Lions (+3.5)

Regular Season Record: 0-5

The Lions were so close to getting their first win of the season again in Week 5, but still couldn’t hold on, as they lost to the Minnesota Vikings, 19-17 on a last-second field goal by Greg Joseph. If Detroit is going to have success at all, it needs to protect the ball and its quarterback better. The Lions committed two turnovers on Goff’s interception and fumble. Goff was also sacked four times for a loss of 23 yards. Rookie offensive lineman Penei Sewell played poorly in the game, as he allowed two sacks in a row to Everson Griffen, but it’s also worth noting that he was not 100% healthy. A week of rest could get him back to top form against the Bengals’ pass rush. Speaking of pass protection, Detroit can capitalize on the Bengals’ offensive line that is among the worst when it comes to protecting the quarterback. Cincinnati is eighth in the league in most sacks allowed with 14.

The Lions are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games as a home underdog.

Bet on the Detroit Lions

Writer’s Prediction
