TV Broadcast: Fox/NFLN/Amazon
Betting on the Denver Broncos (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-3
The Broncos suffered their third consecutive defeat after losing to the Las Vegas Raiders at home in Week 6, 34-24. Teddy Bridgewater had an up-and-down performance against Las Vegas, as he finished with 334 passing yards and three touchdowns on 35/49 completions, but also got picked three times. Bridgewater and Denver’s attack can get going with a more efficient result this coming Thursday against a Cleveland team that seems to have an imploding defense. The Browns gave up at least 37 points in each of their last two games. Denver could crank it up through the air while Noah Fant, Courtland Sutton, and Tim Patrick are still smoking from their performance in the Raiders game in which they each had a touchdown grab.
The Broncos are 11-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 14 Thursday games.
Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-3
It’s not a good time for the Browns. They are 0-2 straight up in their last two games, as they lost to the Los Angeles Chargers on the road in Week 5 (47-42) and then to the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 6 (37-14). Cleveland’s defense is having issues, but those were exposed by the Chargers and the Cardinals, who are two of the best offensive teams in the NFL. Justin Herbert and Kyler Murray are two legitimately good quarterbacks, which Bridgewater is certainly not. Bridgewater is decent, but he’s someone who can be contained. After getting sacked five times for a loss of 25 yards by Las Vegas, Bridgewater could hit the turf multiple times again in Week 7, as he’ll be dealing with Cleveland’s pass rush that features the tandem of Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney. Cleveland’s offense is worth monitoring, though, as Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb could be unavailable to play Thursday because of injuries.
The Browns are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games after an ATS loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Browns win, 21-17.
