Betting on the Detroit Lions (+15)

Regular Season Record: 0-6

Morale is understandably low in Motown, as the Lions are still winless after six weeks of football. Their latest chance to win a game was last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, but Detroit got blown out in that contest at home, 34-11. It’s hard to make a case why the Lions would beat a team like the Rams, but it gets easier when it comes to covering the spread. For one, Detroit is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games after failing to cover in the previous contest. The Rams might also be lulled into thinking they can relax because they’re just going to deal with the Lions in Week 7 and then another lowly team in the form of the Houston Texans in Week 8. That’s not to say LA will not take the game against the Lions seriously, but they might just take their foot off the pedal just enough for Jared Goff and company to beat the spread. Speaking of Goff, he’ll be going up against his former team, so there’s got to be some extra motivation for him.

The Lions are 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games after a double-digit defeat at home.

Bet on the Detroit Lions

Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (-15)

Regular Season Record: 5-1

Matthew Stafford will be facing off his former team for the first time, but he doesn’t need to dig deep to find a way to win against the Lions. He’s already surrounded by immense talent on offense and defense. The overall talent of the Rams alone should be enough to blow out the Lions, who could go through the same experience of the New York Giants in Week 6. The Rams annihilated the Giants on the road that week, 38-11, with Stafford passing for 251 yards and four touchdowns with an interception on 22/28 completions. Detroit’s defense had just been molested by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, so just imagine the punishment the Lions’ stop unit would receive at the hands of Stafford and the Rams’ passing attack that is fourth in the NFL with 297.5 passing yards per game and 10th with 68.81 completion percentage.

The Rams are 4-0 against the spread in their last four Week 7 games.

Bet on the LA Rams

Writer’s Prediction

The Lions win, 34-21.
