Record: 8-1 Overall / 0-0 Conference
The winning continues for the Fighting Irish. They are now on a four-game winning streak after defeating the Navy at home last Saturday, 34-6. Quarterback Jack Coan unloaded 269 passing yards and a touchdown without an interception on 23/39 completions while running back Kyren Williams rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. The two can just be as successful — if not better — in Week 11 against the Hoos’ defense that had recently been roasted for nearly 70 points the last time the Cavaliers were on the field. Notre Dame entered Week 10 with an average of 32.6 points and 388.5 total yards per game. Given Virginia’s weak defense, the Cavaliers could easily touch those averages this coming Saturday.
Notre Dame is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Virginia Cavaliers (+5)
Record: 6-3 Overall / 4-2 Conference
Virginia’s basketball team is known for its unforgiving defense. That is simply not the case of the school’s football team, which was largely to blame for the Cavaliers’ 66-49 road loss to the BYU Cougars on Oct. 30. But at least, Virginia had a bye in Week 10 to rest and figure out what to do with its defense. Still, the team’s offense is capable of compensating for Virginia’s faulty stop unit. Against BYU, the Cavaliers went off for 35 points in the second quarter, with quarterback Brennan Armstrong finishing the game with 327 passing yards and four touchdowns with a couple of interceptions.
Virginia, which is averaging 38.4 points and 544.9 total yards per contest, 10th and second in the nation, respectively, is 4-1 against the spread is 4-1 against the spread in its last four contests.
Writer’s Prediction
