Nature is healing! The Dolphins are happily jumping out of the ocean again. After beating the Houston Texans in Week 9 at home, Miami scored a huge 22-10 upset win, also at home, against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10. The Dolphins defeated Baltimore with the weapon many expected would carry Miami: its defense. Jackson was sacked four times, intercepted once, and was haled to only 26/43 completions. That lone interception was taken to the house too by Xavien Howard. When they play to their potential defensively, the Dolphins are capable of crippling most offenses in the league. The Jets don’t have much on the offensive side of things to speak of, so the Dolphins should be able to take care of New York’s attack.
The Dolphins, who are 11th in the NFL with 1.5 takeaways per game, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five contests after allowing fewer than 15 points in their previous outing.
Betting on the New York Jets (+3)
Regular Season Record: 2-7
So much for the Mike White craze. White looked nothing like a quarterback worth starting for the Jets in Week 10’s 45-17 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. He completed just 24/44 of passes for 251 passing yards with zero touchdowns and four interceptions. It’s unfair to pin all the blame on White, as the Jets’ problems go way beyond quarterback play, but at this point, it’s probably better for the team to see what they can get from veteran Joe Flacco, who passed for a touchdown and 47 yards on 3/3 completions during garbage time of the Bills game. But as horrifyingly bad as the Jets are this season, you can’t just discount the fact that this team has somehow victimized the Tennessee Titans and, more recently, the Cincinnati Bengals. Beating the Dolphins doesn’t seem to be an insurmountable task even for a team like the Jets.
The over is 6-0 in the Jets’ last six games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Miami wins, 27-24.
