The New York Giants are not having a great season, but they can still make it a little bit memorable if they can defeat the Philadelphia Eagles again. As for the Eagles, they can increase their chances of gaining entry into the playoffs at least as a wild card with a win on Sunday. Check out our preview below of this NFC East rivalry matchup.
The Giants are coming off a 21-6 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 which extends New York’s losing streak to three games. The last time the Giants won was in Week 12, when they took down Philly at home, 13-7. Daniel Jones was the Giants’ quarterback in that game, though. With Jones now on the injured reserved list due to a neck injury, the Giants will now parade either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm as their quarterback in their rematch against the Eagles. Glennon was a mess in Week 15, throwing three picks with no touchdowns, while Fromm went 6/12 for 82 meaningless passing yards. The hope for the Giants rests mainly on their defense that intercepted Jalen Hurts three times in the first meeting.
The Giants are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games versus a team with a losing home record.
The Eagles are back to .500 after two consecutive wins. They beat the New York Jets on the road in Week 13, 33-18, then came out of a bye and defeated the Washington Football Team at home in Week 15, 27-17. Hurts committed two turnovers early in the game but finished with 296 passing yards and a touchdown on 20/26 completions. He also rushed for two touchdowns. Hurts can really do damage with his dual-threat abilities, and coming off a game like that, he’s definitely got the confidence in his chances to take advantage of a seemingly demoralized Giants team. Also watch out for tight end Dallas Goedert, who went off for 135 receiving yards on seven catches in the Washington game.
The Eagles, who are averaging 26.0 points per game this season, are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite.
