Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners (odds)

Record: 12-7 Overall/2-5 Conference

The Sooners were no match to the reigning national champions, as they fell prey to the Baylor Bears last Saturday, 65-51. Oklahoma, which plays the West Virginia Mountaineers on the road on Wednesday before turning its full attention to Auburn, has lost all of its last four games. Sooners head coach Porter Moster lamented his team’s inability to take good care of the leather after Oklahoma committed 25 turnovers. The Sooners need to clean that up, though they were also able to force Baylor to turn the ball over 17 times and held the Bears to only 6/20 shooting from deep. Oklahoma has the defense to keep itself in the game against Auburn, as the Sooners are 22nd nationally with 93.1 points allowed per 100 possessions. And despite their low offensive output versus Baylor, the Sooners has an impressive 56.0 eFG% and a 59.5 2P%, 13th and fourth overall in Division I.

Oklahoma is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games away from Norman.

Betting on the Auburn Tigers (odds)

Record: 18-1 Overall/7-0 Conference Conference

Auburn continued its torrid win streak and emerged victorious for the 15th game in a row after beating the Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday at home, 80-71. That win further cements how big of a threat Auburn is to the rest of Division I. The Tigers’ offense was too much to keep up with, even for a talented squad like Kentucky. Auburn shot 46.8 percent from the field in that game and went 6/16 from behind the arc. The Wildcats struggled to slow down Auburn, with Kentucky committing +8 fouls in the game, leading to the Tigers going 24/29 from the free-throw line, while Kentucky only shot 8/10 from the foul line. Defensively, Auburn will be ready to contain the Sooners’ strong attacks inside the arc, especially at the rim, as the Tigers are the no. 1 team in the nation in terms of blocks, with 8.2 swats per contest.

Auburn, which meets the Missouri Tigers on the road Tuesday night, is 9-1 against the spread in its last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Auburn wins, 74-66.
