Record: 22-1 Overall/10-0 Conference
Auburn avoided what would have been a massive embarrassment, as the Tigers squeaked past the Georgia Bulldogs in a 74-72 road win last Saturday. The No. 1 team in the nation survived a cold-shooting performance, as Auburn shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from deep. Defense kept Auburn’s head above water, as the Tigers held Georgia to just 40.7 percent shooting, while also going +6 on blocks and +11 on rebounds. How long can Auburn stay cold? With the talent they have, they could recapture their usually terrifying offense as soon as this Tuesday. Auburn is 10th in the nation with 80.3 points per game and 13th with 116.5 points per 100 possessions.
Auburn, which is gunning for its eighth-straight road win this Tuesday, is 3-2 against the spread in its last five games away from home.
Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (+2.5)
Record: 18-5 Overall/7-3 Conference
Having seen Auburn get rattled by the lowly Bulldogs must have given Arkansas even more reason to believe that it could take down the top-ranked squad of Bruce Pearl. That’s on top of the sizeable momentum of the Razorbacks, who have won all of their last eight games, including last Saturday’s 63-55 victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home. Over that unbeaten stretch, the Razorbacks have also victimized the likes of the LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, and West Virginia Mountaineers. The Razorbacks are having success on the strength of their defense that is No. 1 in the SEC with just 90.8 points allowed per 100 possessions. They have also allowed just 60.5 points in the last eight games, in five of those they held opponents to fewer than 60 points.
Arkansas is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Auburn wins, 77-70.
