Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (odds)
Record: 28-6 Overall/16-4 Conference
The Blue Devils will look to open their 2022 March Madness experience with a bang, as they face CS Fullerton in the first round. Duke is clearly the favorite in this contest, as it should. Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils are coming off a loss in the ACC Tournament championship game against the Virginia Tech Hokies last Saturday, 82-67, so Duke has all the motivation it needs to come up with a huge performance this coming Friday. Duke’s loaded roster features arguably the best player in the nation in the form of freshman forward Paolo Banchero, who will be a matchup nightmare for CS Fullerton. The Titans’ defense will be tested to the maximum in this contest, and it’s not only Banchero who are serious threats to break CS Fullerton’s resistance, as guys like Wendell Moore, AJ Griffin, Trevor Keels, and Jeremy Roach are each capable of going off against a seemingly weak competition.
Duke has scored at least 80 points in each of its last six games and has seen the total hit the Over in all those contests.
Betting on the CS Fullerton Titans (odds)
Record: 21-10 Overall/11-4 Conference
March Madness is where Cinderellas are born, and the Titans are simply hoping that they’re going to be one. They are not just happy of winning a seat in the National Tournament after topping the Big West Conference tourney. They are here to score at least a big win, no matter the odds. After all, they have already bucked the odds when they won the Big West Tournament as a No. 2 seed. E.J. Anosike is the man to watch for the Titans. The senior forward is an efficient scorer who is making 16.5 points per game on 51.8 percent shooting from the field. He was a perfect 6/6 from the floor and finished with 22 points in the Titans’ 72-71 win in the tournament finals against the Long Beach State Beach. CS Fullerton is a solid free-throw shooting team as well, having finished the regular season 30th nationally with a 76.4 FT success rate.
CS Fullerton is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Duke wins, 81-64.
