Betting on the Houston Texans (+10)

Regular Season Record: 0-1

The Texans nearly had the win in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, but at least they also did not lose, as they settled with a 20-20 tie. Davis Mills went 23/37 for 240 passing yards and had two touchdowns with zero interceptions, and while the Texans’ offense stalled in the fourth quarter, allowing the Colts to come back from 17 points down, Houston still showed that it’s taken a leap forward from last season. Rookie running back Dameon Pierce only rushed for 33 yards in 11 carries, but there could be a bigger opening for him on the ground against a largely disappointing Denver defense that failed to stop Geno Smith from becoming a Monday Night Football hero.

The Texans are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games after getting fewer than 90 rushing yards in the previous game.

Betting on the Denver Broncos (-10)

Regular Season Record: 0-1

Russsell Wilson’s debut with the Broncos and return to his old NFL residence got spoiled by the Seahawks, with Seattle dealing Denver a 17-16 loss Monday. However, Wilson was still able to collect 340 passing yards and a touchdown on 29/42 completions. The Broncos could have easily won that game if it weren’t for self-inflicted wounds, particularly the two g0al-line fumbles they lost in the third quarter. That issue with ball security can be easily addressed though, so expect Denver to execute better this coming Sunday against a lightweight at home. This is the game where the Broncos should be able to flex their real muscles.

The Broncos are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games in Week 2.
