Betting on the Hofstra Pride (ODDS)
Record: 17-8 Overall/10-2 Conference
Hofstra is the top team in the CAA and also the owner of the longest active win streak in conference play. The Pride have extended their undefeated run to five games after downing the Stony Brook Seawolves at home last Saturday, 79-58. With an excellent offense and a solid defense, Hofstra has been dominating the play in CAA. The Pride are averaging 113.9 points per 100 possessions adjusted and are allowing only 97.1 points per 100 possessions adjusted, No. 1 and No .3 in the conference, respectively.
Hofstra, which has knocked down at least 11 3-pointers in three of its last four games, is 9-1 against the spread in its 10 most recent outings.
Betting on the Northeastern Huskies (ODDS)
Record: 8-14 Overall/4-7 Conference
The Huskies are not having a fun season. It is also on a four-game losing skid after a heartbreaker of a 74-73 home loss to the Elon Phoenix last Saturday. A closer look at the Huskies, however, would reveal that seem to be doing much better than what their current losing streak suggests. For one, Northeastern has lost by single digits three of its last four losses. Like Hofstra, Northeastern can be pretty deadly from behind the arc. It is third in the CAA with a 38.0 percent shooting from deep and has drained 20 of its last 59 attempts from downtown. Stretch forward Jared Turner leads the team with a 47.7 3FG% while guard Coleman Stucke is shooting 42.9 percent from the 3-point region.
Northeastern is 3-2 against the spread in its last five games.
Writer’s Prediction
Hofstra wins, 77-70.
