Betting on the Virginia Tech Hokies (ODDS)
Record: 18-13 Overall/8-12 Conference
The Hokies are headed to the ACC tournament with a nice rhythm, as they have won their last two games. After beating the Louisville Cardinals on the road, 71-54, Virginia Tech demolished the Florida State Seminoles at home last Saturday, 82-60. Although those wins were against very bad teams, they still given the Hokies are runway for a nice boost for Virginia Tech, which is 33rd in the nation with 114.3 points per 100 possessions adjusted. The senior combo of big man Grant Basile and guard Sean Pedulla will have to play huge this Tuesday, and they are certainly capable of that. Basile is averaging 16.5 PPG this season, while Pedulla is putting up 15.4 PPG.
Virginia Tech is 2-0 against the spread in its last two outings.
Betting on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (ODDS)
Record: 11-20 Overall/3-17 Conference
Notre Dame had a nightmarish conference play action, winning just three games against 17 losses in the ACC regular season. But a closer look at several of the Fighting Irish’s losses versus some of the top teams in the conference suggests that Notre Dame is a much more dangerous team than its record suggests. The Fighting Irish have single-digit losses to the likes of the Duke Blue Devils, Virginia Cavaliers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and to the aforementioned Hokies. Notre Dame went 13/30 from deep in the first meeting and it could still be hot from deep heading into this rematch. The Fighting Irish have drained 10 3-pointers in each of their last two games.
Notre Dame is 4-2 against the spread in its last six contests.
Writer’s Prediction
Virginia Tech wins, 78-69.
