No. 2 Michigan Wolverines vs. No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers Betting Preview

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

When: Friday, March 28, time TBD

Betting on the Michigan Wolverines

Wolverines

[sc:finalfour240 ]The No. 2 Michigan Wolverines live by the three. So far, it’s been a good life in this tournament. Against the No. 7 Texas Longhorns, the Wolverines shot 14 for 28 from behind the arc on their way to a 79-65 victory. The team’s leading scorer Canadian Nik Stauskas (17.5 PPG in the regular season) got his in the game, potting 17 points and a career-high eight assists.

For the Wolverines to beat this strong Tennessee team, they will need to continue to shoot well. The Volunteers are monsters on the boards, and if shots aren’t going in, there won’t be second chances. That said, so far, Michigan hasn’t needed any: in the Round of 32, they were outrebounded 41-30, and still won comfortably.

Tennessee v Massachusetts

Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers

The No. 11 Volunteers may be one of the lowest-ranked teams still standing in the tournament, but they are also one of the hottest. They have won eight of nine, with their lone loss coming to the No. 1 overall Florida Gators in the SEC tournament.

For coach Cuonzo Martin’s team, the key will be their play inside. Bigs Jarnell Stokes and Jaronne Maymon have been dominant in the tournament thus far, helping the Vols show off the skill that made them the 13th-ranked rebounding team in the nation. Stokes had 17 points and a school tournament-record 18 rebounds against the No. 14 Mercer Bears in the Round of 32.

If Tennessee can shut down the Wolverines inside, and still get out to challenge the three-shooting of Stauskas and company, this could be a winnable game for the Volunteers.

Prediction

Like the No. 3 Creighton Bluejays experienced in their game against the No. 6 Baylor Bears, three-point shooting can dry up at the worst times. Look for the Volunteers to control the paint and win a tight one, covering the spread and making the Elite 8.
