Betting on Roger Federer
Roger Federer secured his 13th Wimbledon quarterfinal appearance with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win over Roberto Bautista Agut on Centre Court on Monday. It was a fantastic performance from the Swiss maestro who needed just 86 minutes to record the straight-sets win.
[sc:Other240banner ]Federer, who improved to 3-0 against Bautista Agut, blasted 38 winners and won 92% of his first serve points in that fourth-round victory. What proved to be the difference in the contest, though, was his return. Federer won 46% of his receiving points against the Spaniard with the World No. 2 converting six of his 13 break point opportunities.
Next up for Federer is a last-eight clash with Gilles Simon. The 33-year-old will fancy his chances against the 12th-seeded Frenchman as he has won five of his seven previous matches against Simon. Federer won their most recent meeting in the final at Shanghai last year, beating Simon in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (2).
For Federer to extend his dominance against Simon, he needs to bring his aggressive style and continue his strong net play in the quarterfinals. He won 30 of his 40 net points (75%) against Bautista Agut in the previous round. Federer has won 75% (95-of-126) of his total net points in the entire tournament thus far.
Federer is 9-1 in his last 10 matches.

Betting on Gilles Simon
Gilles Simon barged into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon with an emphatic 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 upset win over World No. 6 Tomas Berdych on Monday. It was an excellent performance from the 30-year-old who needed just one hour and 57 minutes to record the straight-sets victory.
Key to Simon’s emphatic win was his excellent return. He won 43% of his receiving points against Berdych as he converted five of his 13 break point chances. He also found some success in his occasional forays to the net, winning all six of his points there. With the victory, Simon is through to the last eight at Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
Things are bound to get tougher for the Frenchman as standing in his way in the next round is the seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.
