Betting on Leicester City

Leicester City stretched their unbeaten run to two games with a gritty 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday. It was a historic victory for the Foxes, who won at Upton Park for the first time in 15 years. The Foxes have now won nine matches since the start of April and only reigning champions Chelsea have beaten them during that stretch.

[sc:Soccer240banner ]Providing the impetus for Leicester City’s sizzling start is the red-hot Riyad Mahrez. He has already scored three times this campaign – just one short of his tally for the whole of last season. His goal against West Ham was a thing of beauty, with the Algerian thumping a powerful shot past the helpless Adrian.

Credit must also be given to the tinkerman Claudio Ranieri. His decision to implement a 4-4-1-1 formation has paid immediate dividends for Leicester City this season. Mahrez has clearly flourished in Ranieri’s offensive set-up which enables the Foxes to employ their high-pressing game.

For the Foxes to preserve their unbeaten run against Tottenham this coming Saturday, they will need to be more aggressive on the offensive end. They only had 31% of the possession in their last game against West Ham. That simply won’t do for the home fans who will be demanding a more positive approach from Leicester City this coming weekend. The Foxes have already shown this season that they can dominate in front of their home support. They destroyed Sunderland, 4-2, in their season opener at King Power Stadium.

Leicester City are 2-2-1 in their last five matches against Tottenham.

Betting on Tottenham

Tottenham’s Premier League campaign is off to a rocky start after enduring a frustrating 2-2 stalemate against Stoke on Saturday. Spurs have grabbed just a single point in their opening two games as they slid down to 13th place in the league standings.  That being said, Spurs will take heart in the fact that they produced a much better performance this time around against Stoke compared to their opening match against Manchester United.

In fact, Tottenham had a fabulous opportunity to finally barge into the win column, but calamitous defending in the final quarter denied Mauricio Pochettino’s men all three points. Spurs surrendered two late goals to Stoke’s Marko Arnautovic and Mame Diouf. They will look to prevent those mistakes from happening again when they take on surprise leaders Leicester City this coming Saturday.

Tottenham will need to bring all their attacking flair if they are to grab that important first win against Leicester City. The onus is on Harry Kane to carry the scoring load for Spurs. Kane, who scored a career-high 31 goals for Spurs last season, has yet to open his account this campaign.

Kane will fancy his chances of ending his goal drought, though, against the Foxes as he has fared extremely well against them of late. He netted four times against Leicester City in the Premier League last season. In fact, he scored a magnificent hat-trick in Tottenham’s 4-3 victory against Leicester City at White Hart Lane last season.

Tottenham are 3-0-1 in their last four Premier League meetings against Leicester City.

Writer’s Prediction

Leicester City and Tottenham cancel each other out in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
