Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide – March Madness 2018
Collin Sexton’s stock just keeps on rising. Sexton was among the favorites to this tournament’s darling, and he has lived up to that billing so far after he scored 25 points and dished out six assists in helping the Crimson Tide score a mild 86-83 upset win over Virginia Tech Thursday. On paper, Alabama does not have plenty of areas in which it is spectacular in, but with Sexton, the Crimson Tide have the rare player who could single-handedly turn the tide (no pun intended) to their favor. Sexton finished the regular season leading his team with 19.0 points per game, but he has turned it up a notch since the SEC Tournament, as he has averaged 25.4 points in his last five outings. Apart from Sexton, defense is going to be a big key for Alabama. The Crimson Tide are 18th in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency.
Betting on the Villanova Wildcats – March Madness 2018
Villanova’s first game game in the tournament went just as what most people expected it to be. The Wildcats showed no mercy on Thursday in destroying Radford in an 87-61 win. The team’s scary offense show up, as the Wildcats hit 59.6 percent of their shots from the field and sank 14 of their 27 three-point attempts. Alabama’s defense is grittier and would not bend as easily as that of Radford’s but Villanova just has so many talented offensive players for people to feel discouraged in any manner of the Wildcats’ chances of advancing to the Sweet 16 round. Jalen Brunson scored 16 points for Villanova against Radford, and five other Wildcats scored at least 10 points. Villanova averaged 87.1 points per game, the best in the nation in the regular season, on an effective field goal percentage of 59.7.
Writer’s Prediction
