Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (19-15)
It’s showtime for Collin Sexton. The star freshman guard of Alabama will have to be in top form in the tournament. Sexton finished the regular season with a team-best average of 10.0 points per game, and has been playing like the future NBA first-rounder that he is of late. Despite the loss to Kentucky in the SEC title game, Sexton didn’t fail to wow people with his 21-point performance. Prior top that, he burned Auburn with 31 points in a semifinals win. With a player that hot, Alabama could take down any team in a single-game setup. The Crimson Tide are scoring 72.0 points per game and allows 70.0. Virginia Tech’s defense can’t be mistaken to that of Virginia, so look for Sexton and the Tide to capitalize.
Betting on the Virginia Tech Hokies (21-11)
Sure, Collin Sexton is a nasty player, but the Hokies have a ton of experience dealing with elite talents in the ACC. The Hokies have wins against Duke, Virginia, and North Carolina, so they are not going to be awed by Sexton and the rolling Crimson Tide. Virginia Tech. While we mentioned that their defense is not on par to Virginia’s, the Hokies have managed to keep Duke and North Carolina to below 70 points, which is a big step down from the two teams’ usual average of 80 or more points per game. On offense, the Hokies rely on Justin Robinson and Justin Bibbs, who lead the team with 13.8 and 13.1 points, respectively. Virginia Tech averages 79.7 points per game and shoots an excellent 57.3 percent from inside the three-point line and 38.5 percent behind it.
