Betting on the Anaheim Ducks (25-19-7)

Last year, the Anaheim Ducks were one of the fiercest teams in the NHL. They had an offense that no one wanted to face due to their combination of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Fast forward to today, the Ducks are dead last in the league in scoring with just 2.2 goals per game. They do have their solid goaltending to take the sting off their horrible offensive outing, ranking sixth with a 2.3 GAA.

The Ducks reached a new low Monday night, allowing a season-high six goals to the Pittsburgh Penguins to start off a seven-game road trip. Goalie John Gibson had been solid before that outing, going 3-0 with a 2.00 GAA. With Gibson struggling last night, Frederik Andersen may find himself between the pipes tonight. Andersen has been solid recently with a 5-0 record and a 1.80 GAA in his last five starts.

The Ducks’ offense as a whole is struggling, but not the duo of Getzlaf and Perry. The duo leads the team with 36 points apiece. Getzlaf has been more of a playmaker with 31 helpers this season, while Perry has scored 21 goals. They were solid in the first game against the Flyers this season, a 4-2 home win on December 27. Perry scored a brace, while Getzlaf had a goal and a helper in the game.

Anaheim has won five of their last seven games on the road.

Betting on the Philadelphia Flyers (23-19-9)

Anaheim Ducks vs Philadelphia Flyers Predictions, Picks and Preview

The Philadelphia Flyers continue to struggle. After Sunday’s 3-2 loss at Washington, they’ve now lost back-to-back games ahead of this game against the Anaheim Ducks. Michael Del Zotto and Nick Shultz scored the goals for Philadelphia.

The Flyers may have lost, but it wasn’t due to any lack of effort. They outshot the Capitals 35-30 and had four power play opportunities. They just could not get the puck past Washington’s Brandon Holtby. The Flyers are one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to offense, ranking 25th with 2.4 goals per game.

The trio of Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds has been solid for the Flyers. Giroux leads the team with 44 points; Voracek has a team-high 34 assists, while Simmonds has scored the most goals on the team with 18. The trio can have some help from Brayden Schenn, who has been great with 14 goals and 15 assists this season.

While the Flyers have a quartet of strong scorers, they may struggle against Anaheim’s excellent goaltending. Philadelphia goaltender Steve Mason will be between the pipes tonight after losing back-to-back games against Washington and the New York Rangers. He allowed five goals in regulation over those games. But Mason may be in trouble in this game. He allowed four goals on 37 shots in the Flyers’ December 27 loss to Anaheim.

The Flyers have lost their last four home games against Anaheim.
