Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 6-6
The Cardinals just lost control of their playoff fate after losing to the Los Angeles Rams at home last Sunday, 38-28, coupled with the Minnesota Vikings’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, also last Sunday. But the Cardinals have to think of what they can control. Kyler Murray went 21 of 39 for 173 passing yards and three touchdowns against an interception in the Rams game, but he was also sacked twice for a loss of 33 yards. The Cardinals have to get their mojo back, so beating a streaking Giants team could reinvigorate Arizona, which is eighth in the NFL with 27.7 points per game. The Cardinals’ defense can also get a break if Colt McCoy gets another start in lieu of Daniel Jones, who started in three of the Giants’ four wins since Week 9.
The over is 4-2 in the Cardinals’ last six games overall.
Betting on the New York Giants (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-7
The Giants just made a booming statement in Week 13. Not only did they win their fourth game in a row without Daniel Jones under center, but they also beat no less than the Seattle Seahawks, 17-12, on the road to continue their surprising surge. Colt McCoy passed for only 105 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 13-of-22 completions, but it didn’t matter, as the Giants’ defense showed the way for the team. The Giants sacked Russell Wilson five times and intercepted him once. The Giants are having success on the backs of their defense, and it will have to be the story for them again against Arizona’s potent attack. With how they contained Wilson in the pocket, the Giants are confident they can rattle another dual-threat quarterback in the backfield in the form of Kyler Murray this coming Sunday.
The Giants, who have 32 sacks on the season, are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cardinals win, 26-22.
