Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (3-6)
The Cardinals suffered their third loss in a row, as they got trounced by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road last Sunday, 30-27. It will take time for the Cardinals’ offense to play consistently, but that they were able to put up that many points was a testament to Kyler Murray and the team’s attack heading in the right direction. Murray had 324 passing yards and three touchdowns against an interception, while completing 27 of 44 passes. The rushing game was anemic for the Cards, though, as they were able to run for only 75 yards on 18 carries. Murray led the team with 38 rushing yards while running backs Kenyan Drake and David Johnson combined for the rest. Johnson is still not 100 percent healthy, as he’s been dealing with back and ankle issues. Drake, however, had 110 rushing yard and a TD in the Cards’ 28-25 home loss to San Francisco back in Week 9. One thing about Arizona’s offense is that it doesn’t shoot itself in the foot often. In fact, the Cardinals have the lowest giveaways per game with 0.6.
The Cardinals are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last six road games.
Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (8-1)
The 49ers’ record is no longer spotless after falling prey to the Seattle Seahawks last Monday to the tune of a 27-24 loss in overtime at home. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went 24 for 46 for a touchdown and an interception. He was missing his targets on several occasions, though, he was constantly under pressure, as evidenced by the fact that he was sacked five times for a loss of 33 yards. He played well in the first meeting with the Cards, though, almost single-handedly carrying the team to victory, as a tired defense (San Francisco played on short rest) wasn’t up to snuff. Garoppolo passed for 317 yards and four touchdowns without an interception while completing 28 of 37 passes. He could be without one main downfield weapon, however, this week, as Emmanuel Sanders hurt his ribs in the loss to the Seattle and is considered as day to day as of this writing.
The 49ers, who are second in the league in scoring defense with just 14.3 points allowed per game, are 2-1 ATS in their last three outings at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The 49ers win, 29-20.
