Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (odds)
Regular Season Record: 7-1
One loss will not change the fact that the Cardinals are still a very good team. The Cardinals, who suffered a 24-21 defeat at the hands of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at home in Week 8, seemed slowed down by injuries to their key players in that loss. JJ Watt is done for the rest of the season, while DeAndre Hopkins looked like he was not 100% when he took the field in limited time against the Packers. While Watt is out for the year, another week of rest could get Nuk back to his top form. With Hopkins not feeling fine, Kyler Murray was not able to throw for a touchdown against the Packers and was also intercepted two times. Both players will look to play sweet music together in the Cardinals’ passing attack against the Niners, but also watch out for the pair of Chase Edmonds and James Conner, who can take advantage of San Francisco’s run defense that’s ranked 27th in the NFL with 127.1 rushing yards allowed per game.
The Cardinals are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games.
Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 3-4
The 49ers finally put a stop to their four-game losing skid, scoring a 33-22 win over the Chicago Bears on the road last Sunday. That’s a nice set-up win for the Niners heading into the next game against their divisional rival in the Cardinals. Plus, it seems that San Francisco is also about to get a big weapon back downfield. Tight end George Kittle is reportedly close to returning from a stint in the injured reserve. He is expected to practice this week and could make his way back into active status as soon as Week 9. In any case, Jimmy Garoppolo will have Deebo Samuel as a primary target. Samuel has been the best receiver for the Niners this season. He enters Week 9 leading the Niners by a wide margin with 819 receiving yards to go with four touchdown catches on 44 total receptions.
The over is 5-1 in the 49ers’ last six games following a victory.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cardinals win, 27-24.
