Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-8 Overall / 0-6 Conference)
The Razorbacks are still on a free fall following a 45-19 home loss to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers last Saturday. Even when considering that the Razorbacks entered Week 12 on a six-game losing skid, the loss to the Hilltoppers was still an exceedingly embarrassing one, as Arkansas was the pregame favorite by a point. Barely anything went Arkansas’ way, but at least the Razorbacks’ rushing attack showed some signs of life on offense. The Razorbacks collected 253 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries for an exceptional 9.0 yards per carry. But Arkansas’ defense will have to show improvement if it wants to at least cover the spread against the top-ranked team in the nation in the form of LSU. The Razorbacks are averaging 22.6 points per game and are giving up 38.8 per contest.
The under is 4-0 in the Razorbacks’ last four road games. The team is also 7-3 against the spread (ATS) in the last 10 meetings with LSU.
Betting on the LSU Tigers (10-0 Overall / 6-0 Conference)
The Tigers made sure they were not going to get ambushed in Oxford by the Ole Miss Rebels last weekend, as they took down the Rebels to the tune of a 58-37 score. Quarterback Joe Burrow and the Tigers set the tone early in the game by scoring multiple touchdowns. Burrows finished the contest with 489 passing yards and five touchdowns with a pair of interceptions on 32-of-42 completions. Burrows might follow that performance up with another huge one, considering Arkansas’ leaky defense that also features a toothless pass rush. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire also had a great weekend, as rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. LSU can choose any point of attack against Arkansas, and the Tigers could very well have much success, as the Razorbacks haven’t done well in containing ranked opponents this season.
The Tigers, who are third in the nation with 45.9 points per game, are 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
LSU wins, 47-7.
