The Kansas City Chiefs are running away with the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and they can lock that up with a win this week against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are out of playoff contention, but with a proud leader in Matt Ryan, they are still capable of pulling off a win.

Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (+11)
Regular Season Record: 4-10
Week 15 showed us that the Falcons are not done blowing leads. For the nth time, the Falcons squandered a big lead, letting a 17-0 cushion at the half of last Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers disappear before eating a 31-27 loss. It was another wasted effort by quarterback Matt Ryan, who finished with 356 passing yards and three touchdowns on 34-of-59 completions. It’s all about getting it all together for an entire game of football for Atlanta, which is still a threat on offense with Ryan under center and guys like Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, and Julio Jones. Ridley had 163 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 catches in the Tampa Bay game. Jones, meanwhile, skipped Week 15 with a hamstring injury but is not expected to be shut down, so there’s a chance that he’d play against Kansas City’s shaky defense that’s allowing 353.6 total yards per game this season.
The Falcons are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-11)
Regular Season Record: 13-1
In a big-time matchup that could be a preview of the Super Bowl, the Chiefs edged out the New Orleans Saints on the road, 32-29, last Sunday. Patrick Mahomes was in his MVP form in that game, as he finished with 254 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 26-of-47 completions, though he took four sacks for a loss of 22 yards. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered a lower-body injury in the Saints game and is unlikely to play at all in the remaining two games in the regular season. That means Le’Veon Bell will be the Chiefs’ top option in the ground attack while CEH heals up. Bell rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries against the Chiefs while also catching a pass for 14 yards. Kansas City is second in the NFL with 31.1 points per game and No. 1 with 427.9 total yards per contest.
The Chiefs are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
