Betting on the Auburn Tigers (-4.5)
Auburn extended its winning streak to four games with an emphatic 56-3 victory over Arkansas on Saturday. It was another convincing performance by the Tigers who climbed up to 15th place in the latest AP Top 25 poll. That’s quite a turnaround for Auburn who started the season 1-2. Providing the impetus for Auburn’s latest victory was its terrific ground game. The Tigers ran for a whopping 543 yards against the Razorbacks, a school record for a Southeastern Conference regular-season game.
Five Tigers rushed for at least 60 yards and a score in that contest, namely: Kamryn Pettway, Eli Stove, Kam Martin, Stanton Truitt and Sean White. Auburn’s running game, for that matter, has been spectacular all season, They are third in the FBS in rushing offense, averaging 302.9 yards per game this campaign. The Tigers have already scored 21 rushing touchdowns this season. They will be licking their chops at the prospect of facing an Ole Miss side that’s 113th in the nation in rushing defense, allowing 226.9 yards per game on the ground this season.
Auburn is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five road games.
Betting on the Ole Miss Rebels (+4.5)
What in the world is happening to Ole Miss? The Rebels crashed to their second consecutive defeat with an embarrassing 38-21 loss to the LSU Tigers on Saturday. The Rebels simply had no answer for Leonard Fournette who rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns. It was another disappointing display by the Rebels who dropped to 1-3 in conference play this season.
They will look to get their season back on track when they lock horns with Auburn this coming weekend. It won’t get any easier for them against an Auburn side that possess one of the nation’s best defenses this season. The Tigers are 18th in the FBS in total defense, surrendering just 328.0 yards per game this campaign. The pressure then is on quarterback Chad Kelly to deliver the goods in this pivotal clash. He completed just 20-of-33 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in the loss to LSU.
That being said, the Rebels will still fancy their chances against the Tigers as they have fared extremely well against them of late. Ole Miss defeated Auburn, 27-19, in their lone meeting last season. Kelly went 33-of-51 through the air for 381 yards and a pair of touchdowns in that game. Thanks to Kelly’s heroics, the Rebels racked up 558 yards of total offense in that contest.
The Rebels are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games.
