Betting on the Baltimore Orioles (9-4)
Wade Miley gets the starting nod tonight for the Orioles, as the six-year veteran aims to take his second win of the season. Miley is coming off a decent outing against the struggling Blue Jays, pitching for six innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out eight in a 6-4 road win on Apr. 14. Miley recovered his control in that game by not allowing any walks—seven fewer than the free passes he issued in a 7-3 loss to the Yankees on Apr. 9.
Miley, who is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA so far this season, is also looking to remain unbeaten at the Great American Ball Park. He is 3-0 with a 3.44 ERA in three career starts in Cincinnati.
Behind Miley is the Orioles’ hard-hitting offense that is currently fourth homers and in slugging percentage.
Manny Machado could have a nice outing tonight in Cincinnati with Scott Feldman starting for the Reds. Machado is 5-for-11 with a pair of homers and six RBI’s in his career versus Feldman.
Betting on the Cincinnati Reds (9-6)
Issues with his control bugged Scott Feldman in his previous start and he’ll look to correct that when he faces the Orioles.
Feldman went five innings long and gave up two earned runs on four hits with five walks in a 10-4 home loss to Milwaukee on Apr. 14. Cincinnati’s bullpen was obviously a bigger mess than Feldman in that game, though that could just be chucked up as a bad night for the team’s bullpen that’s generally been solid this season. Cincinnati’s relievers are fifth in the majors in ERA and seventh in FIP.
The Reds’ offense, meanwhile, is among the tops in the majors in runs (third), batting average (fourth), and slugging percentage (second). Orioles’ starter will be dealing with Zack Cozart and Joey Votto again, two players who appear to have a good read of his stuff.
Cozart is 4-for-17 against Miley in his career, while Votto is 3-for-6 in the same matchup.
Feldman’s teams are 5-4 in his last nine starts opposite Baltimore
