Betting on the Baylor Bears (odds)

Record: 26-15 Overall/14-4 Conference

Betting on the Baylor Bears (24-6 Overall/13-4 Conference)
Baylor is looking sharp in time for the Big 12 tournament. The Bears are coming off a 75-68 home win over the Iowa State Cyclones to extend their win streak to five games. Over that span, the Bears have also victimized the likes of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas Jayhawks, and the Texas Longhorns. This season, they are also 2-0 straight up versus the Sooners, winning both games in convincing fashion. Baylor beat the Sooners for the first time this season on Jan. 4 in Waco, 84-74, then for the second time on Jan. 22 in Norman, 65-51. Baylor won the first meeting with its hot shooting (56.4 FG%) then used its frenetic defense to force 25 Oklahoma turnovers in the second one. The Bears are second in the Big 12 in adjusted offensive efficiency with 106.3 points per 100 possessions and third in adjusted defensive efficiency with just 97.9 points allowed per 100 possessions.

Baylor is 2-1 against the spread in its last three games overall.

Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners (odds)

Record: 17-14 Overall/7-11 Conference

Oklahoma is also on a roll of late, having won three games in a row to close out its regular-season schedule. The last time they were on the court, the Sooners took down the Kansas State Wildcats on the road over the weekend, 78-71. Umoja Gibson erupted for 29 points on 9/14 shooting from the field, including seven threes. Tanner Groves, meanwhile, had 14 points with a 2/4 line from deep. Oklahoma isn’t a big outside shooting team (just 31.9% of their point from threes), but that could be the one thing the Sooners need to finally beat Baylor this season. They should look to strike from behind the arc while they’re still hot from there. Groves lead the Sooners with 12.4 points per game this season, while Gibson is right behind him with 12.3 points per outing.

Oklahoma, No. 1 in the Big 12 with a 52.3 effective field goal percentage, is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games.

Writer’s Prediction

Baylor wins, 74-66.
