New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners (10:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (-112) at Seattle Mariners (+102); total 8.0 – view all MLB lines
The struggling Yankees dropped their third game in the last four as they fell to the Minnesota Twins, 6-1, last night. With Aaron Judge getting the day off, the New York offense once again slumped. Tonight’s starter, Luis Severino, will need to be on top of him game for the Yankees to prevail. Severino is coming off a terrific outing in his most recent start, as he gave up just one run in seven innings.
Severino will take on Mariners ace Felix Hernandez. King Felix has had a difficult season, but he’s starting to turn things around. He’s given up just one earned run through his last two starts, both wins. He’ll also have an in-form Mariners offense behind him. The M’s are putting up nearly five runs per game through their last nine, and have gone an impressive 7-2 in those nine games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Yankees (-112) top King Felix and pick up a big road win.
Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET)
Line: Atlanta Braves (+190) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-220); total 8.0 – view all MLB lines
After sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks in their previous series, it was the Atlanta Braves’ turn to get swept by the streaking Chicago Cubs. It’ll be up to right-hander Mike Foltynewicz to get them back on track tonight against the Dodgers. Foltynewicz has pitched very well recently, sporting a 3.21 ERA over his last eight starts. The Braves have gone 7-1 in those starts, including the last seven in a row.
However, he’ll have his hands full against a Dodgers team that has now won 11 games in a row and 13 of their last 14 after a 9-1 drubbing of the Chicago White Sox last night. Brandon McCarthy will get the start for the Dodgers, who have won the right-handers last five starts in a row. However, he’s had his struggles, and has failed to complete five innings in two of those five starts.
Writer’s Prediction
The Dodgers (-220) push their win streak to a dozen with a win over the Braves.
