Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Cleveland Cavaliers (PK) vs. Boston Celtics (PK); total: 223.5 – view all NBA lines
The Cleveland Cavaliers returned to winning ways Monday with a thrilling 102-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 49 points for the Cavs who finished the month of February with a sterling 8-2 slate. Up next for the surging Cavs is a clash with the Boston Celtics. Boston’s downward spiral continued on Monday with a humiliating 114-98 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. It was a disappointing defeat for the Celtics who have now lost three of their last four games.
It won’t get any easier for Boston against the defending NBA champions who have averaged 126 points in their two get-togethers this season. For the Celtics to record the much-needed victory against the Cavs tonight, they will need Isaiah Thomas to wake up from his slump. In the four games since his All-Star appearance, Thomas is shooting just 28-for-89 (31.4 percent) from the floor and 13-for-37 (35.1) from beyond the arc. He struggled mightily in the loss to Atlanta, scoring just 19 points on 4-of-21 shooting from the field. It’s the most missed field goals by a Celtic since Jeff Green missed 18 attempts (7-for-25) on February 22, 2014 against Sacramento.
The Cavs are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three road games against the Celtics.
Writer’s Prediction
Cleveland (PK) wins, 105-95.
Indiana Pacers vs. San Antonio Spurs (8:30 PM ET)
Line: Indiana Pacers (+10) vs. San Antonio Spurs (-10); total: 208.0 – view all NBA lines
The San Antonio Spurs stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a commanding 119-98 victory over the hapless Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points for the Spurs who ended their rigorous rodeo trip with a 6-2 record. With the victory, the Spurs moved 4.5 games clear of the Houston Rockets for second place in the Western Conference standings.
They will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they lock horns with the Indiana Pacers tonight. The Spurs will fancy their chances of doing just that as they have fared extremely well against the Pacers at home of late. The Spurs have won 13 of their last 14 meetings with the Pacers at AT&T Center. Indiana is coming off a morale-boosting 117-108 road victory over Houston on Monday. Six players scored in double-figures for the Pacers who overcame a huge 17-point first-half deficit in that ballgame.
The Spurs are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games against the Pacers.
Writer’s Prediction
San Antonio (-10) not only wins but also covers the spread against Indiana.
