The Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics were projected this season as top contenders – but for the No. 1 pick in the draft. The Suns and Celtics have been one of the big surprises in the young NBA season, but even as some of the top performers ATS, are you ready to entrust them with your bets?
NBA Betting Power Rankings – November 14
TEAM | TREND |
---|---|
Phoenix Suns | 7-0-1 ATS this season |
Minnesota T’wolves | 4-0 ATS on the road |
Atlanta Hawks | Over is 7-2 this season |
Boston Celtics | 4-1 ATS on the road |
Golden State Warriors | 5-2-1 ATS this season |
1. Phoenix Suns
Next Games: 11/15 vs BKN, 11/19 @ SAC, 11/20 vs SAC
Many expected the Suns to be one of the worst teams in the league this season, but the message apparently hasn’t reached the desert. Apart from Phoenix being a competent 5-3 SU, they’re also a surprising 7-0-1 ATS thus far.
With games at home vs. Brooklyn and a home-and-home series vs. the Kings this week, the Suns’ blazing hot ATS run should last a while longer.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves
Next Games: 11/15 @ DEN, 11/16 vs BOS, 11/19 @ WAS, 11/20 vs LAC
With a now-healthy Kevin Love posting gaudy MVP-calibre numbers (26 points, 15 rebounds per game), the Timberwolves are finally showing the type of play that had them tipped for a playoff berth.
Minnesota is 6-3 SU to start the year, and an even better 7-2 ATS. The Wolves are still an undefeated 4-0 ATS on the road, and they stand a good chance of making it 6-0 this week with road games at Denver and at Washington. [sc:NBA240banner ]
3. Atlanta Hawks
Next Games: 11/15 vs PHI, 11/16 @ NYK, 11/19 @ MIA, 11/20 vs DET
The reassembled Hawks are still trying to find their feet as a team, as their 4-4 SU record would indicate. However, they seem to have the scoring side of their game taken care of; Atlanta is 6th in the NBA at over 104 points/game.
A potent offense, coupled with a not-so-lockdown defense (102 points allowed/game) has led to the over going 7-2 in Hawks games so far. With Philadelphia, New York and Miami on tap this week, a few more high-scoring games may be in store for Atlanta.
4. Boston Celtics
Next Games: 11/15 vs POR, 11/16 @ MIN, 11/19 @ HOU, 11/20 @ SA
An 0-4 start out of the gate for the rebuilding Celtics was more-or-less expected; what wasn’t expected was Brad Stevens turning things around to then win four games on the bounce, including a big one at Miami. It’s unlikely that they’re bound to continue this winning form, but Boston has proven that they won’t be a doormat this season.
They’ve only lost by double figures once so far and have generally been competitive in every game, even on the road where the Celtics are 4-1 ATS. A Western road trip this week at Minnesota and at Houston will be hard, but so was beating the Heat.
5. Golden State Warriors
Next Games: 11/15 vs OKC, 11/16 vs UTAH, 11/18 @ UTAH, 11/20 vs MEM
Golden State is tough in any arena, but emphatically so in their imposing fortress at the Oracle. The Warriors have once again started out very well on their home floor, with a 3-0 SU and 2-0-1 ATS record.
The Thunder, Jazz and Grizzlies are set for a visit this week, but expect the Splash Bros., Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, to be up for the challenge of protecting their home court.
