Chicago Blackhawks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (8:00 PM ET)
Lines: Chicago Blackhawks (+110) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (-130); total: 6.0 – View all NHL odds here
The Blackhawks will try to regain their footing, as they have now lost three of their last four after stitching together five straight wins. Patrick Kane and company are boasting good numbers on both ends, with Chicago ranking inside the top six in goals (229) and save percentage (91.8).
It will be a tough battle against the Penguins, who despite entering as losers of three consecutive games, have one of the best duos in all of hockey in Sidney Crosby (42 G, 40 A) and Evgeni Malkin (33 G, 39 A). Pittsburgh, of course, is the most prolific scoring team in the NHL, as evidenced to a league-leading 258 goals, which is 17 more than the current second place.
Writer’s Prediction: The Penguins win, 4-2.
Washington Capitals vs. Colorado Avalanche (10:00 PM)
Lines: Washington Capitals (-280) vs. Colorado Avalanche (+240); total: 5.5 – View all NHL odds here
The Metropolitan Division-leading Capitals will be fresh off a 5-4 victory against the Minnesota Wild. Alex Ovechkin went off for three goals and one assist, while Nickolas Backstrom had three helpers. Through their efforts, the Caps are now winners of five consecutive contests.
Washington will be in a good position to continue piling up wins tomorrow, as the Avalanche are one of this season’s bottom-feeders. The Avs are dead-last in the Central Division, while also scoring the fewest field goals and allowing the most scores in the NHL.
Writer’s Prediction: The Caps win, 5-1.
Los Angeles Kings vs Calgary Flames (9:00 PM)
Lines: Los Angeles Kings (+125) vs. Calgary Flames (-145); total: 5.0 – View all NHL odds here
The in-the-hunt Kings, who are trailing the currently eighth-seeded St. Louis Blues by 11 points, took another step back Tuesday night when they lost to the Edmonton Oilers, 2-1. It was L.A.’s fourth defeat in their last five games.
They will be in danger of taking another L tomorrow versus the Flames, a team that although not exactly good on certain stat rankings, has beaten them twice this season and is currently ahead of them in the standings out West.
The Flames are one of the hottest teams in the league today, as they have come out on top in 14 of their last 17 outings.
Writer’s Prediction: Calgary wins, 3-2.
