Betting on the Boston Celtics
The Celtics made it three-straight wins over the Bulls after Wednesday night’s 108-97 victory in Game 5, which also handed Boston a 3-2 advantage in this best-of-seven series. That only means the C’s can close it out here in Chicago for Game 6.
Since losing the first two games at home, the Celtics have picked it up on both ends of the floor, especially on defense where they’ve held Chicago below 100 points in the last three games—including 87 in Game 3.
Isaiah Thomas, meanwhile, has consistently carried the offense, averaging around 25 points per game in the series overall. He had 24 points in Wednesday’s win, while Avery Bradley scored the same amount to bounce back from a lowly 8-point effort in Game 4.
Betting on the Chicago Bulls
Dwyane Wade had his best performance in the postseason in Game 5, finishing with 26 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. That obviously didn’t matter to him since his team ended up losing.
The Bulls can blame themselves for it, as evidenced by their 16 turnovers that turned into 23 points for the men in green. The struggles of Jimmy Butler were also missed, as the Marquette product went just 6-for-15 for 14 markers. Chicago will really need him at his superstar form in Game 6.
It would be really helpful if the Bulls can get some production from the second unit, too. Their offense has been limited below 100 points in all but one game in this series. Bobby Portis and Paul Zipser combined for just eight points in Game 5.
Writer’s Prediction
Chicago forces Game 7, 106-101.
