Betting on the Boston Celtics (+6.5)
During the postgame interview while he’s still on the floor of the Wells Fargo Center, A Horford said “Brad Stevens is a genius.” He’s right. Without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, the Celtics still managed to bury Philly in a 0-3 hole because of Stevens’ wise shot-calling – and also because of Jayson Tatum’s fantastic showing. Tatum scored 24 points in Game 3 on 11-for-17 shooting from the field. Boston’s defense is also jamming the Sixers’ attack. After shooting just 43.5 percent in Game 2, the Sixers went just 39.2 percent from the field on Saturday. So far in the series, the Sixers are shooting just 41.5 percent from the field and just 30.3 percent from deep.
The Celtics are 3-0 SU and ATS in their lasts three games in Philly.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (-6.5)
Ben Simmons’ stock as a rookie took another plunge in Game 3. Although he scored 16 points (15 more than his Game 2 output), the turnovers he committed late in the game on Saturday played a huge role in costing the Sixers a win. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so don’t be surprised to see T.J. McConnell get inserted into the starting lineup in lieu of Simmons. McConnell, who will not score a lot either, but plays collectively. Also, hopefully, for the Sixers, Marco Belinelli and JJ Redick remain hot. The two combined for 30 points and five 3-pointers in Game 3 with the former hitting the game-tying jumper late in the fourth to send the game into overtime. The Sixers need to cut down on their turnovers after committing 15 in the last outing.
The Sixers are 3-2 ATS in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Boston sweeps the Sixers with a 103-100 win in Game 4.
