The Boston College Eagles’ search for their first win in conference play continues following their horror show of a loss to Wake Forest last Saturday. Standing in Steve Addazio’s boys’ way, however, are the undefeated and No. 5 Clemson Tigers, who have a lot to lose than gain in this game against an ACC weakling.

Betting on the Boston College Eagles (3-3)
[sc:NCAA240banner ]What’s worse than being involved in a football game that ended on a pathetic 3-0 score? Why, being the losing team of course. Boston College managed to be that team last Saturday, when the Eagles failed to score on 74 total plays against Wake Forest.
The game was simply an attack on the senses of offense-loving fans, who were rather left in awe of both teams’ colossal ineptitude to put up points. The sad thing for the Eagles was that they had possession of the ball seven minutes more than Wake Forest and yet didn’t convert. BC’s inability to take care of the pigskin simply negated the magnificent play of its defense that limited the Demon Deacons to a measly 142 total yards. Quarterback Jeff Smith threw for only 56 yards with one interception. The Eagles also fumbled four times, failing to recover three.
Clearly, this Eagles team isn’t going to have much success on the strength of its offense, as further evidenced by its eyesore averages of 323.0 total yards per game and 20.7 points per game. Instead, the Eagles rely on choking opposing team’s attacks and keeping the game close enough for their monstrosity of an offense to matter—something they intend to do against Clemson. Boston College, after all, is second in the nation on scoring defense (7.2 points allowed per game) and first in rushing (41.67) and passing defense (98.7).
BC is 4-1 ATS in its last five games as underdogs by at least eight points.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (5-0)
Moving the chains and chalking up points hasn’t been a problem for Clemson through five games this season. That may change, however, when the Tigers take on Boston College’s top-ranked defense.
But as their 16-point spread as favorite suggests, the Tigers appear to have what it takes to shove aside BC’s vaunted stop unit. Clemson, which scores 35.4 points per game and averages 431.8 total yards each contest, would undeniably go to its tried and tested combo of quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Wayne Gallman on offense against Boston College. Watson has been in great form thus far this season, wherein he is averaging 198.0 passing yards per game and has already thrown for 11 touchdowns—the most in the ACC to date. Gallman, on the other hand, is one of the only two ACC players that average in triple digits in rushing yards per contest.
Other players have to get involved, however, to keep Boston College’s defense from ganging up on Gallman and top receiver Artavis Scott (281 receiving yards, three touchdowns). Fortunately, Clemson has lots of alternative playmakers like Zac Brooks (106 rushing yards, two touchdowns) and Jordan Leggett (145 receiving yards, four touchdowns). Clemson’s defense, meanwhile, looks able enough to cripple Boston College’s lifeless offense that laid a big fat egg against Wake Forest.
Clemson is 13-0 SU and 9-4 ATS in its last 14 games as the home team.
