Betting on the Boston College Eagles (13-7 Overall / 7-12 Conference)

The Eagles skidded to their fourth-straight loss last Tuesday, when they fell prey to the Syracuse Orange at home, 84-71. With only a game left on their schedule in the regular season, that being a date with the ranked Seminoles, the Eagles are hard-pressed to match the seven conference wins they had a season ago. What’s making it harder for the Eagles to get out of their slump are the absences of their key players due to injuries. Against Syracuse, the Eagles missed the services of Jared and Jairus Hamilton and Nik Popovic, who are combining for close to 30 points per game this season for Boston College. If any of those players would miss the Seminoles game, Derryck Thornton and Jay Heath will have another heavy scoring load to share. Thornton and Heath are each averaging 13.1 points per game.

The Eagles have seen the total hit the over in three of their last four games.

Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (25-5 Overall / 15-4 Conference)

Florida State’s bid for a No. 1 seed in March Madness took a hit when they lost to the Clemson Tigers on the road over the weekend. They nearly had another mishap last Wednesday when they eked out a close 73-71 road win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In any case, the Seminoles are back in the win column and assured virtually of inclusion in the national tournament. MJ Walker led the charge for the Seminoles against Notre Dame, scoring 21 points with four 3-pointers, while Trent Forrest and Devin Vassell combined for 28 points. The Seminoles shot just 43.5 percent from the field in the Notre Dame game but they should shoot better against Boston College’s defense that’s among the worst in the conference. Boston College is allowing 107.3 points per opponents’ 100 possessions. Conversely, the Seminoles are averaging 75.3 points per contest.

The Seminoles are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Florida State wins, 79-62.
