The Boston College Eagles are not going to even sniff a spot in the College Football Playoff, but the closest opportunity for them to make a loud noise this season comes this week, when they play the Clemson Tigers on the road. The Tigers are undefeated, but hasn’t been playing to the lofty expectations many had of them prior to the season.

Betting on the Boston College Eagles (4-3 Overall / 2-2 Conference)
The Eagles stopped the bleeding last Saturday, breaking a two-game losing skid by taking down the NC State Wolfpack at home, 45-24. The Eagles ran the ball like there’s no tomorrow. They finished the game with a monster total of 429 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Running back AJ Dillon took off for 223 rushing yards and three touchdowns, further cementing his status as the ACC’s most prolific rusher. He entered the NC State game leading the conference with 124.14 rushing yards per game to go with six rushing touchdowns. David Bailey added 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles. The Eagles will not find it that easy to gain yards on the ground against Clemson’s defense, but don’t expect Boston College to depart from their most effective game plan which is to run the air out of the ball. The Eagles entered Week 8 ninth in the nation with a 63.54 rushing play percentage and fifth with 266.2 rushing yards per contest.
The Eagles are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Clemson Tigers (7-0 Overall / 5-0 Conference)
Is there something wrong with Trevor Lawrence? The Clemson quarterback is still one of the best at his position in the nation, but he’s not been exactly as flawless as he was during his freshman year this season. In the Tigers’ 45-10 demolition of a win over the Louisville Cardinals on the road last Saturday, Lawrence threw two consecutive interceptions which allowed the Cardinals to pretend as though they could really hang with the reigning national champions in the first half. Eventually, Lawrence got his rhythm and threw for three touchdowns and 233 passing yards on 20-of-29 completions. The margin of error for Lawrence isn’t that big when up against teams they can easily overpower, which can be used to describe Boston College — a team that lost to Louisville earlier this month. The Tigers just have plenty of elite talents outside of Lawrence that Boston College should find difficult to contain altogether.=
The Tigers are 3-1 ATS in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson wins, 47-14.
