Betting on the Boston Red Sox
Eduardo Rodriguez is quite the pitcher to deal with for opposing hitters lately. The lefty will pose trouble for the Orioles hitters later tonight based on how he’s fared on the mound the past month.
Rodriguez finished May with a 3-0 record and a 2.81 ERA in five starts. He’s allowed just 11 earned runs in the past 44 innings he’s logged in. He tossed six scoreless innings, yielding just five hits in a home victory against Seattle on May 26.
Baltimore already had a taste this season of Rodriguez’s stuff after the 24-year-old shut the Orioles’ offense down in six innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven in a 6-2 win at Camden Yards back in Apr. 23.
The Red Sox’s offense, meanwhile, will look for the trio of Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval, and Chris Young to make things happen at the plate. Ramirez is 6-for-25 (.240) against Wade Miley in his career. Sandoval is 6-for-23 (.261), while Young is 5-for-12 (.417) in the matchup.
Boston is 7-3 in its last 10 visits to Camden Yards.
Betting on the Baltimore Orioles
Wade Miley will have to bring his a-game against the potent bats of the Red Sox. Miley was lit up for four earned runs on eight hits five innings of his last start, picking up the L in a 5-2 road loss to Houston on May 27.
Miley is just 1-3 with a 3.02 ERA in 10 starts this season. His lone win so far came on the road so tonight is another chance for him to notch a victory in front of the home crowd. Having said that, Miley is pitching well at home and in fact is boasting a 0.92 ERA in four starts at Camden Yards.
Baltimore’s hitters will look to get better against Rodriguez, who silenced their bats in a previous encounter as mentioned earlier. The Orioles are the third best hitting team against lefties in the American League.
Mark Trumbo is hitting .295 with two homers against lefties this season. Chris Davis is at .281 opposite southpaws to go with two home runs also.
The under is 8-2 in Miley’s last 10 home starts.
