NFL News and Previews

Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

And just like that, the Buffalo Bills have won four straight. They now stand at 4-2, good for second in the AFC East, only trailing the 5-1 New England Patriots, whom they shut out just two weeks ago.

Tyrod Taylor doesn’t have impressive QB stats during the current streak (167 YPG, 5-1 TD-INT, 62-percent comp. rate), but his play under center is proving to be efficient under head coach Rex Ryan’s defense-focused system.
The offense has been relying more on the feet and vision of running back LeSean McCoy in the past four games, averaging 117 rushing yards per game on 6.4 yards per carry, along with six total TDs (five rushing, one receiving).

The team has also displayed during the win streak its ability to pressure on the opposing QB, which translates to game averages of four sacks, five pass deflections, six QB hits, and six tackles for loss, all while holding opponents to 13.2 points per game.

The Bills defense should love their chances against the Dolphins’ offensive line which has finished in the top three of most sacks allowed in each of the past three seasons.

Buffalo has won two straight road games (2-0 ATS).

Betting on the Miami Dolphins (+2.5)

The great unpredictability of NFL was once again proven. After weeks of poor showings by Miami, they pretty much dismantled Pittsburgh – the team that was supposed to be doing the dismantling – at home, 30-15.

Against the Bills on Week 7, we’ll see if they can repeat their great offensive performance this past Sunday. QB Ryan Tannehill, passed for 24-of-32 (75-percent comp. rate), while second-year RB Jay Ajayi rushed for an NFL season-high 204 yards, which is also highest against the Steelers in the Mike Tomlin era (2007-present).

The same thing goes on defense, we’ll see if the run defense will show up like they did Sunday. They limited LeVeon Bell to 53 yards on the ground. Everyone on the Dolphins D is sure to be challenged by Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy, and the entire Bills offense.

Miami is allowing 22.3 points, 240 passing yards, and 147 rushing yards per game this season.

The Dolphins are 5-5 SU (3-7 ATS) in their last 10 games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

The Bills (-2.5) edge out the Dolphins, 24-20.
