Betting on the Calgary Stampeders (5-0)
The Stampeders maintained their blemish-free record after taking down Eastern Division minnow Montreal at home in Week 6 for Calgary’s fifth straight victory of the season, 25-8. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell led Calgary against the Alouettes by completing 25 of 34 passes for 292 yards to go with two touchdowns and an interception. With Mitchell at the forefront of Calgary’s attack, the Stampeders have become third in the league in passing yards and second in rushing. Speaking of rushing, Don Jackson, who had 46 yards on 17 carries against Montreal, leads the Stampeders with 442 rushing yards on the season with two touchdowns on 68 total attempts. Calgary isn’t too shabby on defense also. In fact, the Stampeders have allowed the fewest points through six weeks this season with opponents scoring just a total of 46 points against them.
Betting on the Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-2)
The Roughriders are beginning to gain some steam. After starting the season with two losses in their first three games, the Roughriders have stitched together two straight wins to enter Week 7 riding a huge wave of momentum. In the team’s most recent outing, Saskatchewan came off a bye and thumped Hamilton in a 30-21 win on the road. Saskatchewan quarterback Brandon Bridge went 17-for-22 for 165 yards and a touchdown in his team’s come-from-behind win. The Roughriders were down by as many as 11 points in the second quarter and were trailing Hamilton by three entering the final period before taking the lead for good when running Marcus Thigpen took off with an 80-yard touchdown run 33 seconds into the fourth quarter.
Writer’s Prediction
Saskatchewan trips up Calgary with a 21-17 win.
