Betting on the Chicago Bears (1-1)

Sure, the Bears escaped with a thrilling 16-14 last-second win over the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 2, but there’s no hiding the visible fact that their offense has been malfunctioning. Doubts are rapidly rising over quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s ability to lead the team’s attack. Against the Broncos, Trubisky went 16 for 27 for just 120 passing yards and zero touchdowns with as many interceptions. The Bears’ attack has yet to find its groove, and there’s concern over whether it’s actually going to develop one. The Bears are 30th in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season with a paltry average of 9.0 points per game. The good thing for Chicago is that it always has its defense to keep itself in step with opponents even when Trubisky and company on the other side of the ball are misfiring, The Bears are allowing the third-fewest points in the league with 12.0 points surrendered per contest.

The Bears are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last six road games.

Betting on the Washington Redskins (0-2)

The Redskins have yet to win this season, as they picked up another loss in Week 2, falling prey to the Dallas Cowboys at home, 31-21. Case Keenum did what he can under center, as he passed for 221 yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 26 of 37 completions. He barely got support from the ground attack, as Washington mustered just 47 total yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Still, the Redskins have been able to move the ball — and score. In fact, they are third in the NFL with 24.0 points per game. Keenum has been connecting to his receivers, but the Redskins can ease the load off of his shoulder if they could improve on their average of only 37.5 rushing yards per game — 30th in the league. More importantly, the Redskins need their defense to grow some sharper teeth. They are third-worst overall with 31.5 points allowed per game and fourth-worst with 455.0 total yards surrendered per contest.

The over is 4-1 in the Redskins’ last five home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Bears win, 19-13.
