Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (+6)
Regular Season Record: 0-0
It could be tough early in the preseason for the Bengals. Joe Burrow is not yet ready to play in preseason games, as he continues to recover physically and mentally from a season-ending ACL injury in 2020. He’s participating in activities in the training camp, but he’s reportedly been underwhelming. Without Burrow, the Bengals will use combinations of Brandon Allen, Kyle Shurmur, and Eric Dungey under center this Saturday. Any of those quarterbacks can be made to look good by rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who will have an immediate big role on the Bengals’ offense that averaged just 19.4 points per game last season. Cincy’s defense, meanwhile, boasts of a promising secondary led by Jessie Bates III, who had three interceptions in 2020.
The Bengals have been solid of late against the spread in preseason road games. They are 4-1 against the spread in their last five preseason games away from home.
