Cleveland Browns vs New Orleans Saints Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Week 2 – September 16 2018

The Cleveland Browns didn’t win nor lose in Week 1, which probably felt like a Super Bowl win for Dawg Pound, but they will try to get their first win since 2016 again this coming weekend against the also winless New Orleans Saints. Will the Browns send Drew Brees and company to a 0-2 start? Or will the Saints bounce back and hand the Browns a familiar loss?

In the NFL Futures, the Browns are +700 to win the AFC North, while the Saints are +210 to take home the NFC South title.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (0-0)

Only the Browns can end a 17-game losing streak without actually winning a game, as they settled for a 21-21 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday. Browns quarterback Tyrod Taylor was awful in the passing attack, completing just 15 of his 40 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown against an interception. He made noises on the ground, though, as he rushed for 77 yards and a TD on eight carries. Taylor didn’t get help from a bad weather condition that was conducive for the passing game, so he can get a pass. Taylor should be able to bounce back against the Saints’ defense that was thoroughly abused by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Browns’ defense deserves plaudits after forcing Pittsburgh to commit six turnovers and sacking Ben Roethlisberger four times.

The Browns are 2-1 ATS in their last three games as a road underdog.

Betting on the New Orleans Saints (0-1)

The Saints’ defense improved last year, but it seemed as though it’s back to its 2016 self again after getting absolutely devastated last Sunday in a 48-40 loss to the Bucs. The good thing was that New Orleans showed it can get work done on the other side of the ball, as quarterback Drew Brees threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns on 37-of-49 completions. Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara torched the Bucs’ secondary with 180 and 122 receiving yards, respectively, while scoring a receiving TD apiece. The Saints’ backfield left much to be desired with only 43 rushing yards, though, that was because New Orleans decided to go pass-heavy. The Saints’ running backs can get it going next week against the Browns, who allowed 135 rushing yards and two rushing scores to Steelers second-year running back James Conner.

The over is 4-0 in the Saints’ last four games.

Writer’s Prediction

New Orleans wins, 28-21.
