Cleveland took a loss against the 76ers on Mar. 1, when Ben Simmons and company handed the Cavs a 108-97 home defeat. Even in a loss, LeBron James managed to shine, as he stuffed the stat sheet in that game with 30 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds. Apart from James, the Cavs will also have Kevin Love. Love was not around in the previous loss to Philly, but with him back, along with the fact that Joel Embiid is not going to play this Friday, the Cavs should be able to score plenty of points in the paint. Cleveland is averaging 44.3 points in the paint against the Sixers. That should ratchet up with Embiid not there to bother Cavs’ shot attempts from around the basket. Larry Nance Jr. should also be able to play freely without worrying about Embiid. Nance Jr. had 13 points and seven rebounds in the last meeting with Philly. Cleveland is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games against the Sixers.

Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (47-30)

Friday’s game is the last true test this regular season for the Sixers. (No disrespect to the Milwaukee Bucks, who will play Philly on Apr. 11.) Unfortunately for them, they won’t have Embiid as mentioned earlier. Without Embiid, the Sixers will need more from super rookie Ben Simmons, who had 18 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds in the aforementioned win over the Cavs. Simmons is averaging 14.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. He won’t cancel out LeBron’s numbers with that kind of production, but he will still be an integral factor for the Sixers, who are averaging 99.0 points versus Cleveland. Sans Embiid, the Sixers will fill his void by giving increased minutes to the pair of Amir Johnson and Richaun Holmes. JJ Redick should also get extra opportunities on offense. He had 22 points in the March meeting with the Cavs.

Writer’s Prediction:

Cleveland wins, 114-103.
