Betting on the Creighton Bluejays (+13)
Record: 22-8 Overall / 14-6 Conference
Creighton knows how tough the challenge is in front of it, as the Bluejays prepare for Gonzaga. That being said, there’s an element in Creighton’s game that, when unlocked, could be the team’s key to shocking the Bulldogs. The Bluejays have what it takes to trade 3-point bombs with Gonzaga. They have the artillery. They are 21st in the nation with 9.6 made threes per game on 36.5 percent accuracy. Gonzaga’s numbers are still better, but the Bulldogs can’t afford to take the Bluejays for granted. Creighton is being led by Marcus Zegarowski, who’s been shooting the lights out from behind the arc all season long. He is connecting on 42.1 percent of his 3-point shots while averaging 15.7 points per game. Creighton’s not bad defensively, also. The Bluejays are 32nd in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency with 92.6 points allowed per 100 possessions.
The under is 4-0 in Creighton’s last four games overall.
Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (-13)
Record: 28-0 Overall / 15-0 Conference
The Oklahoma Sooners tried, but they weren’t a match for Gonzaga in the end, as the Bulldogs scored an 87-71 win in the second round. Gonzaga shot 49.1 percent from the field in the Oklahoma game, which was an off-night for the Bulldogs, relatively speaking. See, the Bulldogs have rarely shot worse than 50 percent in a game all season. In fact, that has only happened four times in 28 Gonzaga games. There is nothing special about Creighton that could convince Gonzaga supporters that the Bluejays will be the ones to cripple the Bulldogs’ offense. Gonzaga is the highest-scoring team in the land of Division I basketball, with an average of 92.1 points per game on a seemingly unfair 54.9 percent shooting from the field.
Gonzaga is 6-3-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall. The over is 7-3 in the last 10 Gonzaga games.
Writer’s Prediction
Gonzaga wins, 84-72.
