Betting on the Creighton Bluejays (ODDS)
Record: 18-10 Overall/12-5 Conference
Creighton has seen its form drop a bit of late, as the Bluejays have lost two of their last three outings. In their most recent game, they lost to the Marquette Golden Eagles at home last Tuesday, 73-71. But Marquette is one of the best teams in the nation, top 10 on the AP Poll at the time of the matchup, so losing by just two points to that program can be taken as a sort of moral victory for Bluejays, who are 27th in the nation with 114.2 points per 100 possessions adjusted and 31s overall with a 54.2 eFG%.
Creighton, which beat the Wildcats at home earlier this month, 66-61, has won four of its last five games on the road (3-2 against the spread).
Betting on the Villanova Wildcats (ODDS)
Record: 14-14 Overall/8-9 Conference
The Wildcats picked up a great 64-63 road win last Tuesday against No. 16 Xavier Musketeers, giving Villanova its first win of the season against a Top 25 squad. That should feed the confidence of Villanova heading into the rematch against the Bluejays. Justin Moore stepped up for the Wildcats in that victory, as he scored 25 points. It’s a win that also probably will be the turning point of the season for the Wildcats, who need more quality wins to improve their chances of making the NCAA tournament even as an at-large berth team. On the season, Villanova is averaging just 69.3 points per game but it’s allowing only 67.6 points per outing for an average scoring margin of +1.7.
Villanova is 3-0 straight-up and 2-1 against the spread in its last three games at the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Villanova wins, 69-67.
