The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are set for round 2 of their biannual showdown, which shockingly could have major playoff implications for both teams.
The Cowboys, aided by six New York turnovers, took their Week 1 encounter 36-31. It was an ominous sign of things to come for the Giants, who have since come back to challenge for a postseason berth.

Betting on the Dallas Cowboys
Coming off a bye last week, the Cowboys still have the bitter taste of a 49-17 shellacking at the hands of the Saints fresh in their mouths. The Dallas defense surrendered an NFL-record 40 first downs and 625 yards of total offense, while the offense could only muster 193 yards and went 0-for-9 in 3rd down conversions. [sc:NFL240banner ]
That loss at New Orleans dropped the Cowboys to just 1-4 away from Big D this season. And with the Eagles now 6-5, a win is imperative for Dallas to keep pace in the division. But they have another tough road test this week as they travel to New York to face the resurgent Giants.
The Cowboys will make the trip without one of the NFL’s top linebackers in Sean Lee (93 tackles and 4 INTs, both 3rd in NFL), who injured his hamstring against the Saints. Fellow starting linebacker Justin Durant is also out with a similar injury.
On a positive note, the Cowboys could have wide receiver Miles Austin back after being sidelined with his own recurrent hamstring injury. Austin had his best game in an abbreviated season thus far vs the Giants in their Week 1 meeting with 10 catches for 72 yards.
Can the Cowboys bounce back with a big win over its division foes? The over is 7-3 in last 10 meetings vs Giants. Bet now on the Dallas Cowboys.
Betting on the New York Giants
After a horrendous 0-6 start, the New York Giants’ playoff hopes looked finished. But lo and behold, four straight wins have improbably put them right back in the thick of an NFC playoff spot. In NFL history, no team has ever reached the playoffs after starting 0-5 or worse.
The Giants have taken advantage of their relatively easy schedule over the past month to reel off a winning streak. They defeated the 2-8 Vikings and the 4-6 Raiders at home, with a road win against the Matt Barkley/Michael Vick-led Eagles sandwiched in between.
[sc:NFL490Banner ]The Giants caught another break as they comfortably beat the Packers sans Aaron Rodgers at home, 27-13, with their defense playing a major part. Jason Pierre-Paul, who was questionable to play before the game, had one of the Giants’ three picks on Packers QB Scott Tolzien, which he returned for a pick-6 to put the game out of reach.
Eli Manning hasn’t been playing incredibly well throughout the streak, but the Giants QB has significantly cut down on his interceptions, with only two in the past four games after 15 in the first six. Manning’s 92.4 passer rating vs the Packers was his highest since Week 1 vs the Cowboys. He also had his first 100-yard receiver since Week 5 after he and Victor Cruz connected for 110 yards.
Will the Giants keep their improbable playoff dreams alive? New York is 4-1 ATS in last 5 games. Bet now on the New York Giants.
